3/8″ Wedge Anchor Pull-Out Test Procedure | Standard-Depth Drilling, Torque-Based Installation, and Tensile Performance Testing Process


1. Anchor Embedding Depth Confirmation

Before construction and drilling, confirm the standard embedding depth of the 3/8 wedge anchor according to industry specifications and product parameters. Effective embedding depth is the core premise to ensure the tensile strength of the anchor bolt. Too shallow embedding will lead to insufficient expansion force and low pull-out resistance; too deep embedding will affect the fitting and locking effect of the anchor bolt.

2. Drill Bit Installation & Standard Drilling

Install the matching standard drill bit for 3/8 anchor specification, fix the equipment firmly, and start vertical drilling according to the confirmed embedding depth. Keep the drill hole vertical during operation to avoid hole deflection, which may cause inconsistent anchor stress and affect the final tensile test data.

3. Drilling Completion & Hole Cleaning

After drilling reaches the standard depth, stop the operation and clean the hole completely. Remove all dust, concrete residues and debris inside the hole. Residual dirt in the hole will cause insufficient expansion and poor fitting of the wedge anchor, resulting in unqualified tensile test results and hidden dangers in engineering safety.

4. Product Specification Recheck

Recheck the 3/8 wedge anchor specification to confirm the size, thread standard and expansion structure are complete and consistent with the construction requirements, eliminating unqualified samples and mismatched model problems to ensure the accuracy and validity of the subsequent pull test.

5. Anchor Planting & Pre-Assembly

Put the qualified 3/8 wedge anchor into the cleaned standard hole, complete preliminary planting and positioning, ensure the anchor is placed in place without skew or deviation, and lay a foundation for standardized torque assembly.

6. Formal Assembly & Torque Detection

Start formal anchor assembly and real-time torque monitoring. Follow the industry standard torque value for 3/8 wedge anchors to implement locking and fastening. Continuously detect the torque change during the process to ensure uniform stress of the anchor expansion tube.

7. Reach Standard Rated Torque

Continue fastening until the fastener reaches the specified standard torque. At this stage, the anchor expansion structure is fully opened and closely fitted with the hole wall, forming stable mechanical locking force, which meets the preconditions for tensile pull test.

8. Professional Tensile Pull Test

After the torque installation is qualified, start the formal anchor pull-out resistance test. Adopt professional tensile testing equipment to apply continuous and stable pulling force, simulate the actual load-bearing working condition of the anchor in engineering application, and detect the ultimate tensile strength and bearing stability of the 3/8 wedge anchor.

9. Test Completion & Sample Evaluation

After the pull test is completed, take out the test sample, observe the anchor deformation, expansion state and hole wall fitting condition, and comprehensively evaluate the installation quality, structural stability and tensile qualification of the 3/8 wedge anchor.
