For example, hanging lightweight decorative paintings in a home might be sufficient with eye bolts of M2.5 to M4 size, as the load-bearing requirements are not high, and the smaller diameter eye bolts can securely suspend the object. However, in industrial lifting equipment, eye bolts of M10, M12, or even larger diameters are needed to connect heavy objects such as large steel beams to withstand the enormous tensile forces.

Carbon steel eye plugs are relatively affordable and have a certain degree of strength. They are widely used in general industrial scenarios where corrosion resistance requirements are not high, such as fixing parts in ordinary machinery and auxiliary connections in general building structures. For example, simple fasteners for equipment inside many factories often use carbon steel eye plugs.
Stainless steel eye plugs have the greatest advantage in their excellent corrosion resistance, maintaining stable performance in complex environments such as humidity and acid/alkali conditions. In outdoor power facility installations, due to long-term exposure to the natural environment, they face rain erosion, etc., and stainless steel eye plugs are used to fix various cables, equipment casings, etc. In food processing workshops, to prevent food contamination due to rust, stainless steel eye plugs are also widely used to fix lighting fixtures, ventilation ducts, and other equipment. Depending on the content of elements such as chromium and nickel, stainless steel is divided into different grades such as 201, 304, and 316. 304 stainless steel is more commonly used and has good overall performance; 316 stainless steel excels in corrosion resistance and is often used in marine environments and other scenarios with extremely high corrosion resistance requirements. Copper eye bolts have good electrical conductivity and also possess a certain degree of corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal. They are often chosen for the installation of electrical equipment requiring high conductivity or for high-end interior decoration where aesthetics are important. For example, in the installation of chandeliers in some high-end villas, copper eye bolts are used to suspend the chandeliers to match the overall luxurious style, fulfilling both functional and decorative needs.

Performance Grade:

The performance grade of an eye bolt represents its mechanical performance indicators. This grade is usually composed of two parts: the nominal tensile strength value and the yield strength ratio of the bolt material. Common performance grades include 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 6.8, 8.8, 9.8, 10.9, and 12.9. Taking a 4.6 grade eye plug as an example, it means the material has a nominal tensile strength of 400 MPa, a yield strength ratio of 0.6, and a nominal yield strength of 400 × 0.6 = 240 MPa. There is a close relationship between performance grade and specifications. In everyday household use where strength requirements are not high, such as hanging light curtain rods, 4.6 or 4.8 grade eye plugs are sufficient because they meet basic load-bearing requirements and are less expensive. However, in fields with extremely high safety requirements, such as bridge construction and the manufacturing of large machinery, where the material needs to withstand enormous tensile and compressive stresses, high-strength eye plugs of grade 8.8 or higher must be used. At the cable-stayed joints of bridges, eye bolts of grade 10.9 or even 12.9 are used to ensure that the joints remain stable and reliable under long-term heavy loads, vibrations, and other harsh conditions, thus guaranteeing the overall safety of the bridge. Therefore, when selecting eye bolts, it is essential to accurately choose products with the appropriate performance grade based on actual stress conditions, usage environment, and other factors to ensure safety and effectiveness.
